A Beautiful Mess

After a few extremely challenging days with a two year-old (let's just say that she did exactly what we asked her NOT to do and almost nothing was said without a whine or cry included), the three of us took some time to unwind tonight.

We dined on grilled tuna steaks and veggies along with some rice (yum!) and then took a decent walk to a Dollar Tree nearby to get a few things for Mike's work and my MOPS group for next year. Claire made it out with a pack of little plastic lizards that she keeps calling her "dinosaurs!" We'll see how long they last...they are in bed with her right now.

Upon our return, we cleaned up the living room (C did her alphabet puzzle and really is starting to remember what goes where, if not a few of te actual letters!) and then took C onto the front porch for an evening snack and milk before bed. It was so sweet watching and listening to her react as she caught glimpses of fireflies and bats dancing around our neighborhood.

Those moments reminded me that no matter how crazy life becomes, no matter how frustrated I may get, not matter how seemingly "bad" our children are, there are always going to be times of awe and wonder. To play off our MOPS remember for next year...life may seem like a mess, but it is one beautiful mess!
