Wait - did that just happen?!?

Its been a busy couple of months, weeks, days. Things have been high, things have been low. I can't detail it all, so I'll just focus on today. Because today was that...um...

First, we discovered last night that Claire both loves and is terrified of fireworks. If they are far away, even if a big display, they're awesome. Close up, absolutely terrifying!

She also didn't ask for paci last night, which was strange. We have been needing to break her of that nighttime habit for a while, but it's become more pressing in the last few weeks. She's all but bitten the paci in half and it's gotten dangerous-looking. But more about that later.

Today was a lovely day spent at Mass with the elder Kostuns in Brighton, followed by pool time out there. It was a cherry on top way to end this gorgeous holiday weekend.

Then we came home. And the DRAMA began!!!

So, back to that pacifier...We discussed on Friday that she could use paci this weekend while she was staying Grandma's and Grandpa's house, but that on Sunday, she would leave paci for the Paci Fairy (we gave her the choice of that or tying it on the Paci Tree in Northville). Here's the initial deal: the Paci Fairy comes and takes the paci to give to a new baby. After about 30 minutes of sheer devastation for Claire, realizing that she wouldn't have paci tonight or hereafter, here's the FULL story on the Paci Fairy:
She lives on an island in the South Pacific and resembles Tinkerbell and her friends.
She travels around at night, much like Santa.
Also much like Santa, she trades out the paci for a special gift. According to Claire, it could be a special doll, a necklace, a book, a toy...
She leaves a note for you if you leave her one with the paci.
She has a special key that has magical powers to enable her to enter your house through the front door.
That being said, you have to leave your note and paci close to the front door so the Paci Fairy knows where it will be.

But between all that, 2 other things were traumatizing for Claire all the while Mom and Dad had to stifle our laughter.

She was at her little table coloring when I looked over and watched, seemingly in slow motion, as Claire randomly toppled off her chair, lightly bumping her head on a pot lid on the floor (no idea why it was there...!). She normally doesn't cry, but I think it caught her off guard. I could barely stop laughing!

Then, we made a major faux-pas and forgot the potty seat put in Brighton. Just before bed, I took Claire in to go to the bathroom, was holding up her nightgown while she dropped her drawers. But I wasn't ready for her to sit - so she went completely bum-first right through down into the water!!! Again, traumatizing for her, but hysterical to me! I recalled an evening when I was young that my little brother pushed me and I went bum-first into the toilet - but with my jammies on! Thankfully, I got her laughing with that story.

Well, Little Girl went to bed. Paci has "been taken by the Paci Fairy." Load #3 needs to be switched in the laundry and I have a letter to hide until Claire is 18...
